Accepted Answer

It depends: It depends on the University Center or MD's office at which the IVF was done. Most results  are reported as 3 or 6 month cycles for conception. Some Centers have even reported conception rates when no viable products can be obtained rather than live baby rates. So, this was a question that you should have asked your provider BEFORE embarking on IVF.

Need more space: to give the full answer. Short answer: they're the same, it depends on the embryo number and embryo quality. Day 5 allows transfer of fewer embryos (less risk of multiples) while keeping rates at the sam level. Varies: Assuming a good office and a good embryo and a normal uterus, if it is a routine embryo then pregnancy rate is about 40-45% and if it had genetic testing and proven to be normal 50-60%

had ivf 2 day transfer of 3 embryos: a 2 cell, a 4 cell, and a 1 cell.  the 2 & 4 cell were the highest grade.  what is my chance of success? i'm 41.

Depends: It is difficult to grade the embryos accurately  on day 2  since it is so early and the embryos will undergo further changes before implantation.  Of the 3 embryos one of them  (4 cell) seems perfect. Statistically the chances of pregnancy at age 41 with ivf 15% - 20 % . Goody luck.

Yes: when you're overweight you can be insulin resistant which can decrease your fertility. Discuss it w/your doctor.

Nothing special: Just eat a good rational diet with adequate calories, protein, carb's and fat.

i am in the process of trying to become a surrogate and had the embryo transfer this past wednesday. 2/8. i noticed cold sores on my lip this morning and took 1 500 mg of valacyclovir. will this impact the transfer/success at all?

: There are no known adverse effects from valacyclovir during pregnancy and no reason to think the transfer would be affected. However, your various providers should be informed of when and how you take any medication.

Not bad at all: Grade B multi-cell embryos are usually considered very good for embryo transfer. Grading multi-cell embryos is somewhat subjective so you should talk with your RE doctor and/or your embryology staff for more data. Good wishes and good luck!

Walking: I let my patients do it, so long as it is not too long or vigorous; but, your doctor's opinion is the only one that matters for you - call and ask if you haven't done so yet.

hi, iam currently on 6th day after three grade a 5 day embryo transfer. i don't have any kind of symptoms yet .does it mean im not pregnant?

Accepted Answer

No: Most women do not have any symptoms. After a 5 day embryo the implantation will not occur for another 3-4 days. At this time you would not have any symptoms. Good luck!
