4 days = maybe safe: Contagiousness varies among different "stomach viruses" and among different people, so is not easily predictable. However, one can feel safer if the sick person wakes up on Day 5 without any symptoms the preceding 4 days. If unlucky, she can still catch a virus and come down with the illness. Food poisoning is usually less contagious, but depends on the bacteria type.

Being sick: Being sick can certainly delay or alter the menstrual cycle. Hope you feel better. If you think you might be pregnant check then check a home pregnancy test. They are cheap, reliable and available  at any pharmacy.

3-4 days, but...: It varies among different "stomach viruses" and among different people, so is not predictable. However, one can feel safe if she wakes up on Day 5 without any symptoms. If unlucky, she can still come down with the illness up to about Day 7 or 10. That means she is considered completely safe if she wakes up on Day 11 without any symptoms. Most people who get sick likely have symptoms on Day 2 or 3.

my husband had the stomach virus recently. he is 72 hours symptom free. i have bleached the house twice now. when is a good time to go back to our normal? (being around each other, kissing, having contact?) is 72 hours enough time?

: You were likely exposed before he started having symptoms. Failure to develop symptoms means you were likely already immune. However, 3 days symptom free is a good marker that he is not passing virus through saliva. It is likely still in his poop for a while, but that is not likely to be a problem.

4hrs to 2 days: Anywhere from 4 hours to about 2 days, depending on which virus in involved.  You may be contagious during the incubation period, and capable of passing the infection to others, even before you have any symptoms.

Gastritis: Sounds like irritated stomach or gastritis. May even be gastroesophafeal reflux (gerd ) and hiatus hernia. There are other possibilities that only a visit to a doctor can help figure out and diagnose. If you are not already doing it, try over the counter medications for acid, such as zantac, (ranitidine) pepcid, and Prilosec for a couple of weeks then visit a doctor.

hi. i have 3 girls who all seem to be rotating a stomach virus. its an average of 10 days between, up to 17 at most. each of them have had it multiple times since oct. ive resorted to bleaching surfaces, sanitizing laundry and dishes. what gives?

: Time to see pediatrician for an exam and to test stool, it would be unusual for a virus to keep reinfecting them, a parasite, if having pets or community acquired c diff for example would be more likely. Hand hygiene remains the most important measures for them at this point to stop transmission.

: Yes. There are dozens of different strains that can be the cause. Recovery from one strain does not afford immunity to all others. It can also be something else.
