Do you regularly flush your nose with a saline/ baking soda solution?

Other options: If by allergic reaction you are referring to allergic rhinitis (hay fever) then you might want to think about adding additional meds to regimen to help control symptoms better. Other options: Zyrtec causes some drowsiness in about 10% of the people, although this effect tends to fade out after awhile, fexofenadine has virtually no sedating effect.  Nasal steroid would even be more effective for nasal stuffiness without the sedating effect.

While the usual dose of zyrtec is 10 mg once a day for allergies, there is scientific evidence that higher doses even up to 4x the usual dose is helpful for severe hives.  So, two doses of zyrtec is unlikely to cause significant side effects except perhaps a little drowsy.

Allergies: Doubling your antihistamine may not be answer to treat your bad allergies, you should consult an allergist to manage your allergies better, you may need a different type of medication, such as a nasal spray if you are congested.
