Pregnancy : Although I don't consider pregnant women especially immunocompromised, some do. However there are precautions about eating undercooked meats and fish, high mercury containing fish, unwashed produce, raw eggs, drinking caffeinated or alcoholic beverages. Also no supplements or medications without checking with the obstetrician.

See doctor. : The food intake of a type 1 diabetic must be regular and predictable, so I'm concerned that her calories are not getting in. Is she managed with injections or insulin pump?  Her Endocrinologist really has to know about this.

At least by the FDA: This meets the Generally Regarded as Safe(GRAS) criteria by the FDA.  But any artificial chemicals that you can avoid, the better.

Should stop yes: You probably have a virus which is causing the vomiting. You may vomit just bile juice. It is your body's way of getting over the bug.  It should pass on it's own. I don't think pepto bismal will give you any relief.

i plan to finish a 48 hour fast in two hours. what should i do to prevent any potential complications? how should i approach food wise? id like to prevent any refeeding syndrome symptoms. can i just eat a meal?..or be cautious? if so, how so?

Accepted Answer

: I would not expect a re-feeding syndrome after such a brief fast.  Simple foods like breads/lean meats/vegies do well. Avoid fats/complex sauces until you are comfortable.
