Pregnancy symptoms: The only post-ovulation symptoms you might expect to experience are pre-menstrual symptoms...since menstruation begins on day 14 post-ovulation...unless, of course, you got pregnant at the time of ovulation.

After missed period: Conception, as defined by the generation of a fertilized ovum, occurs within day or so of the sex. However, it takes about two weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG to produce a positive pregnancy test. Blood test may be done a day after a missed period. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period. If the result is negative repeat the test in 4-5 days. Use first morning urine and follow instructions for the test carefully. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. 
Practice safe sex.

Usually not: This would be the time right before your period.  Those symptoms are not uncommon.  However, if you rarely have symptoms like this and they either get worse or you develop a fever notify your provider.

Spotting is OK: Occasional mid-cycleirr spotting is not necessarily representative of any problem at all.  I would not place much weight on the possibility of implantation bleeding and this representing conception.  Persistent or heavy mid-cycle bleeding needs to be evaluated.
