can a fetus develop a cleft lip after 21 weeks?  just had my 35 week ultrasound and there's a big line in the upper lip in her face pictures.  worried

Cleft lip: It is possible. Although this occurs in earlier stages. For now, you should just wait and see. Hopefully your child won't have one. But even so, there are many good surgeons and centers that can correct the problem.

Both: Fetal age is of course the exact age of your fetus as determined by measurements taken of the baby.  Fetuses have different rates of growth or may have problems with growth, so sometimes the measurement age doesn't match the "expected" gestational age.  The best "age" is determined by an early ultrasound between 6 and 12 weeks gestation.  Accuracy of ultrasound decreases as pregnancy progresses.

Depends: This depends on who you ask. Some have a personal opinion that life begins at conception, some at "reasonable expectation of viability", some at birth.Various states have their own legal definition of status.I don't expect the arguments to be resolved in my lifetime & i doubt there will ever be a consensus on the matter.

can the reading of a 10 week gestational age be wrong? is it possible that the crown can be larger than other fetuses?

No : Early in pregnancy each fetus grows at about the same rate. Later on in pregnancy they begin to differentiate. At 10 weeks the sonographic measurements are going to be every accurate. There is only about a 5-7 day margin of error.

fetus was measuring accurate at 5w3d and 8w4d u/s. but this time i should be 11w3d but u/s showed only 10w1d with a strong heartbeat. why?

Margin of error: There are various margins of error at various gestational ages on sonograms. The margin of error in a first trimester sonogram is about 7 days. You can confirm with your doctor but it appears you are within the normal range

Both: When measuring such small dimensions with shadows, the test is going to use a range. When they say 1 week, it is plus or minus a week. As the pregnancy moves further along,  the accuracy will improve as they have more baby to measure & features to study.

hello sir..after waiting for over two months ..my wife conceieved again..sac is 10 weeks, but embro/fetus 7 weeks ..should i be very cocncerned ?

You should have the: 18 week ultrasound to more accurately determine gestational age at that time.  The bigger the fetus, the more accurate ultrasound measurement will be.  At 7-10 weeks, it is simply too early to tell with a high degree of precision.

i had my 2nd u/si'm a little concerned because my fetus mesaused 11 wks 3 days and my gestational is measured 10 wks (4.7cm) does this indicate a prob?

Sono variation: If the result is within a week, it is okay and is normal variation.

Fetus: When a fetus has reached 24 weeks estimated gestational age it is considered to be a viable fetus and therefore afforded all medical efforts to maintain life if born. Prior to this gestational age the fetus is considered to be nonviable.

Very accurate: Typically accurate to within +/- 5 days.
