If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections ;  hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test . No, it is not normal.
Periods should present every 28-35 days and last from 3 to 7 days. If there is an irregularity, like yours it must be investigated through hormone levels tests and a gynecologisc/obtetrics evaluation.
There is many conditions that can cause dysregulation in the menses, that is why an evaluation is so important to determine the specific cause and treat it.
