Thrombectomy
Thrombectomy is removal of a blood clot. It can be performed with a catheter using either an open or closed technique. The open technique uses an incision to expose a blood vessel, then a catheter with a collapsed balloon at its end, is passed into the vessel, past the clot. The balloon is inflated, pulled back, and the clot removed. Sometimes this can be done thru the skin by closed technic.
