Electroconvulsive therapy

Electroconvulsive therapy

Share

Link copied

There is some data to suggest that a convulsion may benefit a severely depressed or psychotic patient who is in danger to themselves. This convulsion can be induced by medical means under controlled conditions. In the past this was done with insulin, electrodes to the scalp, or specific convulsive drugs. This practice is rare now and very highly regulated.
