Conjoined twins

Conjoined twins are identical twins whose bodies are connected to each other, which is a rare phenomenon. Most conjoined twins are stillborn or die shortly after birth. Some surviving conjoined twins can be surgically separated. Conjoined twins develop when a single fertilized egg only partially splits into twin fetuses, or when an egg splits into twins but then partly fuses together.
