First outbreak herpes 6 weeks after contact. is it normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Herpes: Primary infection may result in systemic as well as local manifestations. Following an incubation period of 3 to 7 days, the patient may experience a virus-like syndrome with malaise and fever, then paresthesia of the vulva that are followed by vesicle formation. These are often multiple, resulting in shallow, painful ulcers that may coalesce.Vesicles and ulcers can occur in a 2- to 6-week period.
