After one year: Cow's milk should not be given prior to one year. The protein in the milk has the potential to cause inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract which may lead to anemia and this is more likely in younger child. From a medical/nutritional standpoint there is no reason cows milk needs to be given at all. If it is used limit so that it does not affect the consumption of whole foods.
