Usually not: Prostatitis primarily causes pain or discomfort in the low abdomen, back, rectum, testicles, etc, often hard to pinpoint the exact location; sometimes urinary frequency or urgency; usually no discharge. Urethritis primarily causes discharge of pus or mucus from the penis, sometimes with painful urination, usually without urinary symtoms or the kind of pain from prostatitis.
