Variable time: I am assuming that you mean hormonal forms of birth control. These treatments can have effects on the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis that persist after removal of the birth control. Some people revert to normal hormone cycling immediately, others can take many months to resume cycling. These glands must be communicating to allow ovulation and pregnancy to occur.

Clean ? : What form of BC ? Pill, implant, IUD,vaginal spermicide foam ? If the pill you don't need to. It works by keeping a level of artificial hormone in your blood that keeps you from releasing eggs. Stop taking it & it is gone in a few days. Implants must be removed but their hormone then disappears within days. Hormonal IUD's must be removed & if so the hormone leaves too.

Depends: It depends on the type. birth control pills are out of your system quickly, within a few days. It may take a little while for you to start ovulating again, though.
