A member asked:

Small itchy but painful lump on the lower left side of my vulva opening. can't wipe since it causes the itchiness & hurts to touch. is this normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No, see a doctor: A painful lump on the vulva could be an infected hair follicle, but could also be herpes. I would see a doctor and get checked out just to make sure it's not herpes or another std. Could also be a yeast infection, but if it's herpes, you'd want to know so can inform partner.
