At Your Birth?: Passing of diseases from mother to baby are possible. It is called vertical transmission. Certain illnesses can be passed this way, including stds like hiv, herpes, gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia or hpv. They usually result in eye or lung infections early after birth (except hiv). However, you would have likely been found to have these long before now. If concerned, get an std check up.

There are several sexual transmitted diseases. Some are caused by a virus as herpes, hpv or hiv. Those tend to stick with you. Others as chlamydia, gonororhea, trichomonas or syphilis can be treated. Go get tested if you are worried! Plus.. use a condom.

Dr. Robert Kwok

Maybe. Maybe not.: A woman who's been having "s" with another person, might have allowed the other person to "t" some sort of "d" to her. So, a woman who has had sex (even once) with another person, indeed could have a sexually transmitted disease... But only if the other person had an std at the time of sex.
