Indirectly for some: Pap smears test for abnormal cervical cells— dysplasia or metaplasia—which lead to biopsies. Any std that causes such changes in the cervical cells, such as hpv, will thus be indirectly tested for. Generally, there are other tests for most stds: culture, wet prep, smear of discharge, blood tests.

Not Directly: A pap smear done during a female exam, may demonstrate some cellular changes consistent with certain stds (hpv or genital warts, in particular), but it does not test for any std. However, a woman may have additional tests done at the stame time, that would test for stds. A negative pap smear test does not mean that the person is free of any stds.
