A 45-year-old member asked:
What is the difference between contracting genetal herpes and syphilis?

Two very different : One is caused by a virus and the other by a type of bacteria called a spirochaete. Both can last a lifetime, but syphilis can be eradicated under most circumstances, whereas once you have herpes simplex it is there forever. Both are sexually transmitted.
