Higher Estrogen : The cause of breast enlargement with oral contraceptives is due to a combination of swelling (edema) as well as true tissue growth which may be associated with breast tenderness. This latter effect is usually related to the estrogen component of the pill which may have varying ratios of estrogen/progestin. This may also be influenced by your own unique responsiveness to estrogen. Discuss with gyne.
