I have a tender spherical bump on the exterior of my anus. it's warm and the skin around the anus has been irritated. i'm also battling an inflammatory bowel condition and have had persistent diarrhea for 3 months now. is the bump an abscess?

This can be a perianal abscess which is a complication of inflammatory bowel disease. In this situation I favor being evaluated, advised,treated and followed by a colorectal surgeon. In the meantime, apply warm compresses.
