Pre-cancer: Dysplasia means pre-cancer. These are changes that can occur before it becomes invasive cancer. Sometimes these pre-cancerous changes can change back to normal on their own. It is important to have this checked every 6 months by your doctor, stop smoking, and stay healthy to optimize your chance of this going away and never becoming cancer.

Precancer: A cancer is a very severe level of dysplasia. Vulvar dysplasia means that there are cells that are no longer normal and may be trying to become a cancer. Treatment varies from observation, to medical treatment, to surgical treatment. Smokers are more likely to develop vulvar dysplasia.
