No: The 10 day course is (semi-) arbitrary. There is no data regarding the efficacy of an 8 or 9 day course. If you took 9 1/2 days of the 10 day course, very likely that will be effective. Make sure your boyfriend gets treated as well - otherwise you may get re-infected
