Is it safe for me to take birth control pills even though i am not yet sexually active?

Usually safe : Any person who starts these should have a thorough personal & family medical history & exam. Not necessarily a gynecologic exam. Such a review can pick out factors that would make use at any point a problem. However, these products were initially studied decades ago to help with irregular or painful menses at any age. The BC was a side effect that became their eventual main use.

Agree with Dr. F: You may take contraceptive pills before becoming sexually active. In fact it is a good idea. Take HPV vaccine. Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, when you do, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. For nutrition: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/. Wish you good health!
