Depends on details: There are millions of different jobs that are considered normal jobs. Which jobs are NOT normal jobs? Herpes ususually means Herpes simplex types 1 and 2, and those viral sores can be on different parts of the body. Whether or not a person can go to work would depend on the type of work a person does. Most adults have oral Herpes type 1, and they rarely have a problem going to work.

Of course, why not?: In the US, there is no form of employment that cannot be done with herpes. Indeed, it would be illegal for any employer to ever ask and no reason for them to know if an employee has herpes. There is no work that carries an increased risk of herpes transmission. (Well, sex work would be an exception. But even here, there are no laws that would require or allow an employer to know.)
