Depends on location: This depends on the location of the outbreak. If well away from the lower abdomen, i.e. where the laparoscopy will be done, probalby no problem. But of course check with your doctor. Recurrent shingles is very rare. If recurrent herpes anywhere from upper thighs to the waist, more likely this is recurrent genital herpes due to HSV2, not herpes zoster.
