Depends: If the cystitis is associated with urethritis which is common (does it burn when you urinate?) Then lay off for a while.

Can a bubble bath give my child a uti?

No: Bubble baths do not usually cause a urinary tract infection but rather, especially in girls, cause an irritation in the urethra (the last part of the body in the travels of urine) which can burn and feel like a uti.
Dr. George Klauber
Specializes in Pediatric Urology
I respectfully disagree. Bubble-bath may initially cause chemical irritation of the urethra which in turn damages urethral lining and permits bacteria to reach the bladder which is only an inch away from the urethral opening. I have seen little girls with urinalysis & culture proven UTIs within 48 hours of using bubble-bath. Also girls who had recurrent UTIs which ceased after stopping bubble-bath

Are young men more likely to develop an addiction?

Yes: The old pennsylvania dutch adage is true: "we grow too soon old and too late smart." we are generally more impulsive when we're young, and males are generally more impulsive than females. Women are more cautious and more apt to stop something before it becomes habitual (other than shoes, of course).

Straing or rectal ma: Rectal prolapse is not common in men but when it occurs, it is usually from chronic diarrhea and straining at the stool. Rectal prolapse should usually be repaired by an experienced surgeon as there are several different techniques which can be applied depending on patient factors such as age, debility, assessment of anal sphincter tone and squeeze, etc. Colonoscopy is necessary.
