A member asked:

If she had sex a week ago and she has iud (copper iud) and she was ovulating. what are the chances of get pregnant? i know the iud is 99% effective

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Very low: As you mentioned, the copper IUD is an effective product with about 1% risk of pregnancy in any year of use.Compared to all other forms of birth control the only one better is abstinence. Use of any secondary form like condoms can reduce the risk of STD's but adds little to the BC effect.
