Dates are estimates: Pregnancy dating estimates are just estimates. Dates are usually plus or minus one week. If a doctor says a woman conceived on Jan. 25, he is saying the woman conceived at some moment between Jan. 18 and Feb. 1. Knowing that, things will make sense. A due date is an estimate of when a baby will be born. Most babies are not born on their due dates.
