A 28-year-old female asked:

I'm ttc and been prescribed metro . i'm ovulating . will the gel kill sperm and effect conception ?

Possibly: Even most lubricants can kill sperm cells and negatively affect conception. When TTC you should only use special lubricants designed for couples TTC if you need this. I would playbit safe and take metronidazole orally as this should be available for the infection as well and not interfere with conception or wait to use the gel until after your fertile window.

Yes it can affect: Conception and could cause problems with implantation resulting in spontaneous abortion. Does not effect sperm to my knowledge.
