Missing pills, yes: If you don't take the pill every day as directed then yes, it is common to get pregnant, and most women then say it was a "pill failure" Of course it was a "failure" to take the pill properly. The condom is more for STD protection as it has a 20% failure rate when used without another backup contraceptive.
