If on birth control, is there any way to stop your period once it has started?

Not really: You can start your next pack of birth control pills and this will stop you over the next few days. This is likely to be the same as if you just took your pills normally. The Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD is a great birth control method and it often stops periods.

Maybe: Without knowing what brand of pills you are on, I can't be precise. However, its sometimes possible to shorten the duration of your period by taking fewer of the placebo pills. For example if your pill package consists of 21 active pills and 7 placebos, you can shorten your period by starting a new pill pack after taking 3 of the placebo pills instead of 7. www.healthtap.com/drcharleswhiting
