Dry vagina: Could be dry because of the hormonal changes.Vaginas are the most lubricated during the fertile period ( ovulation) so dryness may be the cycle. The itchiness can be from dryness or alternatively can be overgrowth of vaginal organisms like yeast , ( there also may be overgrowth of mycoplasman, ureoplasma. BV ( usually do not itch). Resolves after period due to hormones. Eat yogurt. f/u w/doc

Could be: The driness and itching at the vaginal opening during your period could be due to a sensitivity to the pads or tampons you are using. Try avoiding those with any deodorants or perfumes. If that doesn't work, there are some autoimmune conditions that are effected by the change in hormone levels. You will need to be seen to look into this possibility. Hope this helps.
