When does sperm die if it is on hands?

APortnoyeousQuestion: The last time I checked(and that was a long time ago)they seemed to die if they were out of their naturally warm,moist,viscous mucilaginous environment (i.e. either in your scrotum or in someone else's vagina).So logic would dictate that they would suffer a semenly demise if they dried-out or encountered anything other than a normal body fluid(like,say,axle grease,a spermicide,or a catcher's mitt)
