Yes: The progesterone is a pregnancy hormone that is made in large quantity when you are pregnant. It can cause nipple tenderness and may cause darkening of the nipple and areola, just like in pregnancy. Using depo-provera give long term dose of progesterone to prevent you from getting pregnant for 12 weeks. So this is not uncommon, Good luck!
