Change Rx: There's no perfect contraceptive; you state you are male but are "on birth control." if there is any possibility that you will become a mother, it's a good idea to go on a different antibiotic from minocycline. Please talk about this with your physician. If you're a man, Minocycline won't interfere with your becoming a father.

Antibiotics & BCP: Antibiotics are thought to interfere with the metabolization of birth control pills. Birth control pills are usually given a 95 to 99 percent effectiveness rate. The studies that have been done show a very small difference in effectiveness. Usually the difference is less than 3 percent.

Don't know: They always say there is a chance, but nobody can tell you exactly what is that chance. Even with bcp, there is a 5% chance that bcp would not protect you from pregnancy (i.e., a "failure"). So, if pregnancy occurs, it's becaude of using antibiotcs or simply the failure of bcp?
