Rectal swab: Rectal chlamydial infection in people who engage in receptive anal intercourse can be diagnosed by performing nucleic acid amplification testing (naat) on a specimen obtained from a rectal swab. If naat is not available, serology can support the diagnosis, but this has limitations. If your doctor cannot definitively diagnose the condition, he may treat empirically.
