Alpha blocker: A blood pressure medication which blocks the Alpha receptor in the body which in part is responsible for blood vessel constriction. This medication can also be used to treat prostate enlargement.

It used to be a popular drug for treating high blood pressure and can be used for treating symptoms due to an enlarged prostate gland. With advent of better medications for treating both of these conditions, its popularity has decreased.
