Probably normal: It may be a remnant of the hymen, or it may just be a vaginal fold of skin. The vagina has lots of wrinkles and folds in it. Unless it looked irregular or had a 'cauliflower' appearance - then it should definitely be looked at. If you are worried, then of course, see your doctor. It sounds like normal tissue.
