Retrograde ejaculation: Retro grade ejaculation is when the muscle that leads into the bladder does not close off during the act of ejaculation. The semen will enter into the bladder and not through the opening of the penis. If the male produces a urine specimen then sperm can be found in the urine.

Retrograde: Retrograde ejaculation is the backward propulsion of semen into the urinary bladder during ejaculation rather than forward propulsion from the penis. This of course can affect fertility as semen volume is very low. Diabetics have a higher risk for developing this condition. After a through evaluation, some treatments can be tried to improve outcome, or sperm can be recovered from the urine.
