Possibilities: Include bleeding from hemorrhoids, diverticulosis, infectious diarrhea, cancer, arterio-venous malformations, crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. Also, an ulcer, bleeding disorder, or a polyp. If you are having bloody stool you need to be seen by a doctor as soon as possible.

It could mean a: # of different things. Possible causes of blood in stool include: fissures, fistulas, hemorrhoids, cancer, ulcers, infections, inflammation, Diverticular disease & Angiodysplasia . Get evaluated if more than a one time occurrence.
