It would be unusual: But it is possible. Ocps usually make periods shorter, lighter, less painful, but they can sometimes make them longer or heavier - need to get switched to a different ocp. May have very different side effects.

Usually not: Birth control pills typically make periods lighter and shorter. If you recently started the bill you may have break thru bleeding in the first few months.
