Oral : Oral birth control pills (bcp) prevent pregnancy by suppressing ovulation, in other words preventing the release of an egg from the ovary. Missing 3 days of her bcp may be enough time to activate the release of an egg and therefore it is possible that pregnancy could result - you should now practice barrier protection, e.g. Condom or diaphragm with spermicide. She should finish the current package of bcp, leading to a period. Then she should resume taking the next month's bcp - she should be back on track for protection against getting pregnant.
