What is the treatment for syphilis?

Depends: Rx for syphillis depends on the type, newborn or acquired;stage, early or late and complications. Penicillin is the primary drug treatment. Management of new cases includes parameters such as detecting other std's, finding & treating exposed contacts, etc. Followup includes testing to be sure the initial treatment is successful.

Penicillin shot: If caught early, syphilis may be cured with antibiotics. A single dose of penicillin injected into the muscle is extremely effective in treating the early stages of syphilis.
