A member asked:

Can birth control cause absent periods?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Your periods on the birth control pill are artificially brought on by discontinuing the pill for a short time each month. If there is little build up of the lining of your uterus the rest of the month, there will be little or no bleeding. This is more likely to happen when you have been on the pill for a while. No bleeding does not mean things are "backing up".
