Dyspareunia: There may be many reasons for painful intercourse including anatomic, insufficient lubrication,muscule spasm (vaginismus), trauma, infection, psychological etc. Your friend should see her Ob/Gyn for a pelvic exam and possible testing for STD, UTI. PID etc. In the mean time, you are advised to refrain from intercourse or at a minimum, use barrier protection to minimize spread of possible infection.
