Suggest Valium : The urologist should be using local anesthesia which should eliminate pain after the injection. However, some guys are more anxious than others and I recommend Valium 10 mg 1-2 tabs, pending weight, for everyone ~ 30 min. before the procedure. If the pt is feeling calm and feels he does not need he makes the call. Cold packs and elevation are important to use after the procedure.

Vasectomy: lots of ice packs and aleve (naproxen). it heals quickly, should only be uncomfortable a couple of days.
