Not usually: Anal lube should be used to avoid any trauma and should not have any bad effects afterwards- good luck

Could be: I do not encourage anal sex. Tearing, infection, damage to sphincter leading to incontinence are some of the potential problems. The anus is an exit... Not an entrance!

Some like, some don't: Some women find it exciting, some hate it. Some men like the tightness of the anus. Some men like the cushioning from partners buttocks. Big deal for some. Big negative for others.

Lubricate & Patience: Use plenty of water soluble lubricant and have partner insert very slowly, stopping if and when there is any pain. Anal recipient must try and bear down softly and above all relax.
A 36-year-old member asked:

Any tips for numbing the area prior to anal sex?

Don't: If one is receiving anal sex for pleasure why would one want to numb the area and have no feeling. On the other hand if there is pain, that should suggest it is probably not a good thing top partake in. Just a thought. You decide.
A 20-year-old female asked:

Is anal sex safe?

Yes and no: The anus is not made for sex, it does not produce any natural lubrication. So if your going to try it, then you need plenty of high quality artificial lube (astroglide or pjur), go slow, be gentle and if it hurts, stop. Also the anus is very susceptible to catching stds, so make sure your partner does not have any.

you can also cause permanent muscle damage to the sphincter and varying degrees of incontinence. The anus is an exit, not an entrance!!

Yes, it is safe in general. Use lube and use good judgment but there are not long term risks. Safe sex should always be practiced.
