Possible reasons for bleeding while on birth control?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hormones...: Breakthrough bleeding while on "the pill," is a common, though unfortunate problem. Its caused by the ratio of estrogen to progesterone (and the type of hormone) in the pill. If it persists after you have been on your pill for at lease 3 months, you may need a a pill with a different hormone or different ratio. Work with you Gyn to get it right. There are many different pills to choose from.
