Sort of: Your immune system should have the ability to fight off hpv and even reverse some of the cellular changes that can occur from hpv. However, hpv has a way of inserting its dna into your cells so that it's not recognizable to your immune system, so it can lie dormant forever there. Also, some individuals do not fight it off as well, for unknown reasons, and they go on to get complications.
