Vasectomy regrets...: Vasectomy reversal, or vasovasostomy, is an outpatient surgery that typically takes a few hours, and the recovery is usually similar to what one experiences following a vasectomy (although the incision may be a bit longer). Success rates can range from 75-95% in most cases, depending on certain factors. In your case, i would expect a good chance of success because your vasectomy was done less than ten years ago. Ask your primary care doctor for a referral to a local urologist who has expertise in infertility, and make sure he or she is experienced in microscopic surgery.

Oh yes: By all means, you can still get pregnant. You can talk to a doctor about a vasectomy reversal. Or you can consider ivf. Most doctors will likely recommend vasectomy reversal as it has a higher success rate than ivf. There's the cost as well. I would make an appointment with husband's doctor and discuss your concerns and options for treatment. Good luck!

Possibly: Sadly, most insurance companies won't cover vasectomy reversal. The procedure is considered a "fertility" procedure and has a success rate of 50% at best. The earlier the vasectomy is reversed, the higher the success rate however.

Here are some ...: Less than 1% of men after vasectomy may have reconnection of transected vas deferens, which, if occurring, usually happens within the first 6 months after vasectomy and may occasionally lead to post-vasectomy pregnancy. To confirm if rare reconnection does occur, post-vasectomy semen should be done timely as advised; in fact, 2 months after vasectomy is time to do so. More? Ask Doc timely.
